Harald Høidahl – Kyrie eleison (CD – jewelcase)

“Kyrie eleison” is Harald Høidahl‘s sixth solo album. In terms of expression, the album is somewhat reminiscent of its predecessor, “Låt ditt rike komma” “Let Your Kingdom Come”, from 2013.

The songs on the album are performed in Harald’s mother tongue, Norwegian, but will very likely be picked up in a Swedish context as well. In addition to Harald’s self-written songs, there is also the song “Snart ska stenene rope”, which was translated from Swedish and written by Sofia Jonsson and her husband Karl-Johan (singer in Grand Trunk Travellers). On the album there is also a translated interpretation of “Innan gryningen” (“Mot morgengry”) by Ylva Eggehorn and Benny Andersson.

The album was produced by Johannes Groth and arranged by Harald. It is musically related to previous records, as based on Harald’s piano playing and voice, he also has a band, a string ensemble and Sarpsborg Kammerkor. Marte Lavik also participates with vocals on a couple of the songs.

The cover is painted by artist Menorah Isalind and designed by Sara Woodrow.

“Kyrie eleison” is a high-class record, elaborate and somewhat quieter, with powerful worship and lyrics with substance. Songs that will most likely be sung around in churches and various Christian contexts for a long time to come.
