Worship leader Rebecka Aavanen makes her record debut with a country-scented EP and Erik Runeson (Gemenskap, etc.) is musician and producer.
Rebecka Aavanen was born in Sweden, outside Kumla, grew up as a missionary child on Zanzibar in Africa, moved to Uppsala with her family as a young teenager and lived there until 2013 when she married Juhani and moved to Åland. The couple lives there today together with their two children.
Singing and music were a big part of Rebecka’s life early on. In primary school, she heard country music for the first time and since then that genre of music has had a special place in her heart. In high school, she started writing her own songs. One of them was the forthcoming single “Walking”.
Rebecka became more active in singing when she moved to Åland and worshipping God is something she is passionate about. Through her music she wishes to convey who God is, His love for us and express her response to that love through praise.
The dream of being an artist, Rebecka took hold in 2017 and since then has recorded her music when life allowed – parallel to family life and through pandemic. Erik Runeson, who has previously, among other things, recorded several records in Adora‘s series Gemenskap (Community), has produced the record and plays all the instruments, together with Rebecka. Mastering is handled by CJ Grimmark (Narnia, Jerusalem) at Lighthouse Mastering.
The EP was released on September 16, 2022 and contains Rebecka’s five own songs and of course there is a touch of country in the music.
